The "PLL: Original Sin" Cast Address the Possibility of a Season 2

Now that the first season has ended, it's safe to say "Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin" is a worthy "Pretty Little Liars" spinoff. It's filled with compelling new characters, twisty plot lines, and tons of killer slasher references, so we're obsessed, to say the least. Since most of the first season's mysteries were wrapped up in the finale episode, there's only one major question remaining: will we get a season two? Read on for everything we know about a possible second season for "Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin."

How Does "Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin" Season 1 End?

At the end of season one, it's revealed that "A" is the brainchild of Principal Clanton (Robert Stanton), Angela Waters's (Gabriella Pizzolo) secret father, and that the masked "A" killer is Archie, Angela's brother. This "A" team want revenge on those who played a role in Angela's death, the circumstances of which are also uncovered at the end of the season. Angela was raped by Sheriff Beasley (Eric Johnson), who was dating Davie (Carly Pope) in 1999, and as a result, the Liars' mothers turned on her and bullied her before her suicide, convincing the entire school to ignore Angela coldly.

In the finale, Principal Clanton and Chip (Carson Rowland), who assaulted both Imogen (Bailee Madison) and Tabby (Chandler Kinney), are arrested. Imogen also stabs Archie and lands him in the hospital, but the finale ends with his apparent return, as he attacks (and potentially kills) Sheriff Beasley and Chip as one final comeuppance.

"PLL: Original Sin" Season 2's Plot

Since season one ends with Archie's return, a potential season two could follow his killing spree. Millwood is definitely a town with a lot of skeletons in its closet, so the stage is set for Archie to inflict revenge on more people with years-old dirty secrets.

There's also always the potential for a new "A" to come into the fold — perhaps the closing kills weren't the work of Archie at all but an unknown culprit. Or, though Archie is still present in the "Pretty Little Liars" universe, he'll be a minor villain paired with a new primary antagonist. As we know from the original "Pretty Little Liars," whenever the Liars think their nightmare is over, a new one is waiting just around the corner.

"PLL: Original Sin" Season 2's Cast

It's highly likely that the original cast of Liars will return for a season two of "PLL: Original Sin" if it's renewed, including Madison as Imogen, Kinney as Tabby, Zaria as Faran, Malia Pyles as Mouse, and Maia Reficco as Noa. Plus, season one's finale revealed a major connection to the original "Pretty Little Liars": Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) are adopting Imogen's baby!

Aaron was in hot pursuit of Imogen to kill her and her baby when she stabbed him in self-defense and landed him in the hospital, so he may still have his goal of murdering her and the baby on the brain now that he's escaped from the hospital — which leaves the door open for Ezria, as well as the rest of the original cast, to return in a second season (which would be "A"-mazing, in our opinion).

"PLL: Original Sin" Season 2 Premiere Date

Season two hasn't officially been renewed by HBO Max, so there isn't a definitive premiere date yet. There's also been concerns amid HBO Max's merger with Discovery+ that some of fans' favorite shows will be on the chopping block. Fingers crossed "PLL: Original Sin" will make it through the merger!

The "PLL: Original Sin" Cast and Creators' Quotes About Season 2

Both the cast and creators of "PLL: Original Sin" have expressed enthusiasm about a second season. Co-showrunner Lindsay Calhoon Bring told Collider that the creators "do have ideas for moving forward, and we have some pretty fun and exciting story ideas and places for the characters to go after this." Co-showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also told Variety that the showrunners are currently "talking about" and "brainstorming" ideas for season two, especially considering Archie's survival at the first season's end.

Madison (who plays Imogen) also told Bustle that she definitely sees a path forward for season two and would love to return to filming with her fellow castmates: "The way our first season closes out sets it up perfectly for that [next 'A'] text message . . . it sets it up perfectly for the next ride because you know it won't be the same."

There's plenty of fan enthusiasm for "PLL: Original Sin," and according to the cast and creators, new mysteries are waiting in the wings. Let's hope we'll get to see them unfold in a potential season two!
